Rashad Cunningham

Rashad Cunningham was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, and raised both there and in Brownsburg, the town he proudly calls home. He is a husband to Brittany, a father to Genesis, and a grandfather affectionately known as “PoppaShad” to his granddaughter Selah.

Rashad serves as the Spiritual Formation and Community Pastor at Church@Main, where he equips believers for relational discipleship that reaches beyond Sunday services and into the sacred spaces of everyday life. He is deeply committed to helping the Church rediscover discipleship as something that happens not just in pews and programs, but in personal, everyday spaces. Sacred encounters shaped by trust, access, and authenticity.

Called to cross-cultural ministry, Rashad has a passion for building bridges across racial, cultural, and denominational lines. His ministry is shaped by honest stories of lessons learned, theological depth anchored in Scripture, and a transparency that meets people in their real-life struggles and questions.

Rashad is deeply shaped by a life-long wrestle with the lie of “not being enough.” But through the grace of God and the community of disciplemakers around him, he discovered that the true story — the Gospel of the Kingdom — is the only story strong enough to silence every other narrative. That’s what makes relational discipleship so personal to him. He believes everyone is fighting a false story — and that the Gospel brings the only real one that sets us free.

Rashad believes the greatest poverty in America isn’t financial, it’s relational. We are the privacy-fence generation. And as we build walls, scroll feeds, and live isolated from each other, the urgent need for relational discipleship only grows louder.

At the heart of his calling is a conviction:
Discipleship moves at the speed of permission.
That means slower, smaller, and more sacred than most expect — but always worth the walk.

Whether he’s preaching from the platform, discipling at the dinner table, or playing on the floor with Selah, Rashad is most at home walking with others toward Jesus — one step, one story, and one sacred space at a time.
