John Polk

John Polk is the coauthor of Presentation Pitfalls: 10 Traps Business Professionals Fall Into and How to Avoid Them. He is President of John Polk & Associates and a former Data Visualization Professor at the University of Richmond’s Robins School of Business. John designed the presentation workshop for Capital One, which over 10,000 associates have attended.

John’s mix of real-world experience, practical focus, and sense of humor made his presentation workshop one of the highest-rated and most-requested workshops. He now teaches workshops and coaches leaders on how to design and deliver presentations that engage, influence, and drive action. He is on a mission to rid the world of poor presentations while giving leaders the tools to communicate their stories in ways that make their data sing.

John has over 20 years of experience leading Strategy and Analysis teams across Operations and Marketing. In those roles, he wrote thousands of presentations and coached associates, from new college hires to senior executives, on effective presentation design.
