Daniel David Gothard

Daniel David Gothard was born in 1968 in Meriden in the West Midlands of England. He gained a CertHE and Masters degree in creative writing, and worked as a film producer, a private tutor, a journalist, and in bookselling for 20 years. His prize-nominated short stories have appeared in publications in the UK, The Republic of Ireland and the USA. He has had four novels published.

His book - Change Is Slower Than a Heartbeat (Analog Submission Press) - is a collection of his short stories 2014-24.

His latest novel is The Quietist (Roundfire Books, August 2025) which was nominated for The Booker Prize 2025.
