John D. Kingston

John Kingston was born and raised in Montreal but, like many others, relocated to Toronto several years after the FLQ crisis. He brings a unique perspective to Canada’s political landscape and is a passionate advocate for national unity. He continues to explore the path toward a stronger, more resilient Confederation. Kingston lives in Toronto with his wife, Lorna, and holds a degree in economics and an MBA from the University of Western Ontario. He also earned his Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation from the College for Financial Planning in Denver, Colorado.

John’s career spans several industries. He served as CFO for a Canadian software firm and VP Finance for a national advertising agency, before transitioning to a long and successful tenure in the financial services sector—in both Canada and the United States.

During those years, John authored quarterly newsletters exploring political, economic, and market-related developments—always with a focus on the big picture. His passion for macroeconomics and strategic thinking continues to inform his writing.

His first novel, The Level Playing Field, is a political action thriller in which the Emperor is far more than a ceremonial figure. He is the leader of a centuries-old secret Samurai society that influences the Japanese government’s global trade policies—through psychological manipulation, financial warfare, and, when necessary, assassination and murder. When their covert strategy is exposed, the hunt is on—and the balance of global trade is the prize.

John’s latest novel, The True North Talks, blends contemporary political action with deep historical resonance. Written as speculative political fiction, it explores Canada at a crossroads—grappling with interprovincial trade barriers, energy corridors, civil rights challenges, and rising separatist rhetoric from Quebec. Completed in December 2024—just weeks before real-world headlines surfaced suggesting Canada might become America’s 51st state—The True North Talks captures a moment that feels increasingly real.
