About T. J. Akers

T. J. Akers grew up on a Manchester council estate, chasing a football across muddy parks and dreaming big. With little money but plenty of determination, she found her confidence and joy in the game – and she’s been playing ever since. Today, she still pulls on her boots for her local team and cheers from the stands as a proud Manchester United Women supporter.

T. J. is the author of the Women’s Football Superstars series – exciting, non-fiction books for 8–13-year-old girls that celebrate real players, their journeys, and the rise of the women’s game. She writes with the insight of someone who has lived the sport, capturing its energy, challenges, and triumphs.

She’s also the creator of herStory, a series of illustrated biographies about remarkable women from history. These fun, accessible books are designed to inspire young readers with true stories of courage, ambition, and change.

When she’s not writing, T. J. visits schools, runs football workshops, and champions girls chasing their dreams. Her message is clear: You belong on the pitch. You belong in the story. From a Manchester childhood to inspiring readers everywhere – T. J. Akers proves passion can take you anywhere.
