Grant Bage

Grant Bage is an accomplished author and researcher whose work spans football fanzines, newspapers, magazines, textbooks, research reports and academic journals. Passionate about stories, football and history, he has written for both children and adults, from academic works like Thinking History 4–14 to accessible titles such as The Story of Football. An Honorary Fellow of The Historical Association, he holds a PhD on how stories help people learn history.

His latest book, The Unseen Sir Alf: A Different Kind of Hero, is his first biography, the product of five years’ research. A lifelong England and Ipswich Town fan, an experienced leader, and a professional historian, Bage brings rich expertise to the enduring question of Sir Alf Ramsey: who was he, and how did he achieve World Cup glory in 1966? Blending scholarship, personal insight and liberal patriotism, Bage offers answers that resonate with the story of modern England.
