M. Joseph Doria

M. Joseph Doria writes fast, witty urban fantasy and is the author of the fictional series The Archos, which blends angels, demons, and magic in real-world settings to explore themes of good vs. evil, duty vs. freedom, and others.

Doria calls himself a “hostile author.” He’s written everything from songs to fundraising videos to Emmy Award–winning news stories, but books weren’t on his radar until 2013. A few months into his spiritual journey, his aunt urged him to write one, and without hesitation, he did. The result was It’s a Sign, Stupid!, quickly followed by The Light Year—two autobiographical works that helped him piece together his belief system.

In 2024, ten years after first imagining it, he finally began writing. Often found at karaoke bars with a messenger bag and laptop, he’d write between songs. “I hate writing in quiet spaces. Plus, I love singing.”

As a former news reporter, he refined his storytelling skills. But as a fiction author of a series, he gets to smile more.
