Patrick Duggan

Patrick Duggan is Professor of Performance, Culture, and Resilience and Head of Winchester School of Art at the University of Southampton. An interdisciplinary scholar with over 15 years’ experience, his research explores the socio-political power of cultural production—particularly in contexts of trauma, crisis, and urban resilience. Patrick has led major international projects across academia, healthcare, emergency planning, and policy, and his work has been widely published and commissioned for non-academic audiences.

As an academic leader, he champions inclusive, impact-driven cultures and strategic innovation in creative education. His writing interrogates how performance operates in everyday life—from protest and politics to theatre and visual art—asking what cultural practices do, and why they matter.
