Jonathan Kruk

Once upon a time, an ice cream truck lured away storyteller Jonathan Kruk’s audience. Quick as a fairy tale hero, he called upon the Bul-Bul Bird to draw the kids back. That magical moment grew into his Loyola Press book, The Magical Wonderful Bul-Bul Bird, with enchanting illustrations by Rob Bridge.

Jonathan is best known for casting live audiences under the spell of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and A Christmas Carol. Featured on CBS Sunday Morning and The Travel Channel, The New York Times called him an “intrepid Storyteller." As a teaching artist, he delights schoolchildren with Hudson River lore, finger fables, and timeless fairy tales. He is the History Press author of "Legends and Lore of Sleepy Hollow" and "Legends and Lore of the Hudson Highlands." He wrote the Introduction to the Oxford University Press' latest edition of "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow," illustrated by Arthur Rackham.

Jonathan has recorded eight storytelling albums—none featuring ice cream trucks, though every tale brims with wonder.
