Mr John B Will

John B. Will has devoted over 50 years to martial arts and more than 35 years to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. One of the original “Dirty Dozen”—the first 12 non-Brazilians awarded a BJJ black belt—he received his rank in 1997 from the Machado brothers. Over his career he has taught more than 30,000 classes and designed training solutions for martial arts schools worldwide.

A true pioneer, John founded Blitz—Australia’s leading martial arts magazine—and has trained across Indonesia, Thailand, India, Japan, the USA, Brazil, and beyond. He is widely regarded as Australia’s foremost designer of defensive tactics programs for military, police, special operations, and government agencies.

John leads the Will-Machado BJJ Association, the largest Jiu Jitsu network in Australasia, and runs the Redcat Academy in Geelong with his wife of 35+ years, Melissa. A passionate educator, author of multiple books and video series, and a lifelong student of training design, John continues to shape the evolution of martial arts across the globe.
