Paul Blumsom

Paul Blumsom is a historian and student of the late nineteenth to mid-twentieth century with a particular interest in both world wars, focusing on the experience of the ‘ordinary’ woman and man in conflict, both on the home front and upon the field of battle, teasing out untold and forgotten stories, and reconstructing and interpreting history from below. He graduated from the Open University in 2012 with a First Class Honours Degree in Humanities with History. He is a member of the Western Front Association and has contributed numerous articles to the WFA website, and is a seasoned traveller and tour guide to the WW1 battlefields of Belgium and France. His debut book, Fought Like a Lion, is a biography of his grandfather – who fought in the Boer War and the Great War – incorporating the author’s psycho-geographical examination of his ancestor’s physical, mental and emotional journey throughout both army career and civilian life.
