Hong Lu was born in Henan Province, China. Her father's name was East Rise Lu, her biological mother: Wit Record Liu, her stepmother: Cowshed Demonstrate May. She grew up under the care of her grandparents before completing her early education in her hometown. She was recommended to Litang No.1 Middle School, the leading school in the county, and later attended Mixian No.1 High School. After her university entrance examinations, she was admitted to Jiaozuo Accounting School, but she didn’t go. She enrolled in the Science and Technology English Major following year at the Central South University of Technology in Hunan Province, a national university administered by the Ministry of Metallurgical Industry.

Her professional experience spans both China and the United Kingdom. In China, she worked in several sectors including manufacturing, provincial media, and national business journalism — at Henan Wan Guo Printing Plate Co., Ltd., henan Science and Technology Newspaper, and Global Entrepreneur magazine. Later, she established and managed private businesses in both China and the UK, gaining extensive experience in cross-cultural communication, publishing, and entrepreneurship.

Her writing draws on her multidisciplinary background, combining social observation, linguistic interest, and a long-standing engagement with questions of identity, memory, and the structures that shape individual lives.

She currently lives and works between the United Kingdom and China.
