Ruth Masters

Ruth Masters is a British author of humourous science-fiction novels, which have been compared with the work of Douglas Adams and with TV series such as Red Dwarf and Futurama. Her style is witty and fast-moving, with imaginative narratives that champion the underdog and subvert popular tropes.

Ruth’s first three books make up the "Truxxe Trilogy", and tell of the adventures of young Tom Bowler, who finds himself working in an intergalactic service station during his gap year. He discovers the dark secrets of the planetoid Truxxe, traverses the universe to rescue his alien friend from the impenetrable planet Porriduum and ultimately defends the Earth against an alien invasion. The trilogy includes ‘All Aliens Like Burgers’, ‘Do Aliens Read Sci-fi?’ and ‘When Aliens Play Trumps’.

In her fourth and fifth books, “The Extreme Autograph Hunters” and “The Ultimate Autograph Hunters” we meet four young sci-fi and fantasy fans who happen upon a working time-machine and use it to competitively collect autographs throughout history – getting into a few scrapes and testing their friendships along the way. The two books are “paraquels” which run alongside each other, so can be read in any order.

In her darker works, “Belisha Beacon and Tabitha Turner” tells the tale of two women, one a complaints executive from modern-day Britain, the other a celebrity DJ 400 years in the future, who wake up one day in each-other’s bodies and lives. “The Loop” is a dystopian novella, set in a world where men are separated from women, where Lue finds a means of escape.

Ruth’s work is enjoyed by readers of all ages thanks to her vivid imagination, detailed storytelling and lively sense of humour.
