Robert S. Gilchrist

Robert Gilchrist has been an engineer in Ontario, Canada, since 1978. He received degrees in civil engineering from the University of Waterloo (BASc, 1976) and McMaster University (MEng, 1988). Both degrees focused on transportation and traffic engineering. He is a lifetime member of the Institute of Transportation Engineers (1976) and acquired the designation of Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE, 1999, now retired), both based in Washington, DC.

His career has taken him through positions in transportation planning, transportation engineering and traffic engineering. He has been a partner and/or owner of several firms providing services to the public and legal community. He has been actively engaged in forensic transportation engineering since 1992, when he and two partners established AT Traffic Safety Corporation. He subsequently purchased the company form his partners in 2010 and shuttered the company in 2024 on moving into retirement. AT Traffic Safety mainly provided forensic engineering services to the legal community. Through his training and work experiences, he became qualified to provide human factors opinions on transportation matters in Ontario's Superior Court.
