Deb Pickering

Deb Pickering is a Nana of 3 gorgeous grandchildren, who lives in York, UK, with her husband. She loves being an active part of the children's lives and says, "They are an absolute inspiration, and better still, they make me laugh, which keeps me young!"

Deb has been writing stories since she was little, so it was no surprise that as soon as her eldest grandson, George, was born Deb started reading to him. Then, when he was old enough to talk they would make up stories together. They could spend hours making up a story and acting it out and Deb remembers one afternoon in particular, when George's teddy, Froggy, ended up falling down a deep (imaginary) well - over and over - and George had to come up with new ways to get Froggy out!

The Dragon Thunder is a lovely compassionate story about loneliness, understanding and kindness that Deb first encouraged George to write when he was 6. When Deb was getting some other books published, she suggested to George that they should perhaps get this published too and they worked on it together after that.

Deb is now also working on two novels for teens, so watch this space!
