Hi, I’m Brandy Hall and I’ve spent nearly two decades helping people create thriving, resilient landscapes. I founded Shades of Green Permaculture back in 2008 with the simple belief that our yards and landscapes can do so much more than look pretty. They can nurture us, support biodiversity, and make the world a little healthier every day. Since then, my team and I have worked with thousands of families and communities to bring permaculture principles to life in backyards, farms, and shared spaces, earning our B Corp certification and landing on 2025’s Inc. 5000 list of fastest growing companies.
My first book, The Complete Guide to Home Permaculture (coming January 2026), is the resource I wish I’d had when I started out. It distills nearly twenty years of hands-on experience into practical, inspiring guidance to help you bring permaculture home to your own backyard.
I’ve always been drawn to building and design. I earned my General Contractor’s license at 20 and trained as a stone mason, where I fell in love with the way good design can harmonize with the natural world. Along the way, I’ve deepened my work with training in permaculture, regenerative design, water systems, and ecological farming. My work has been recognized by Garden & Gun as part of “a new guard of landscape designers,” and I’ve been honored to receive awards for leadership and design.
When I’m not working with my team or writing, you’ll often find me serving my community as Mayor of Pine Lake, Georgia—or just outside exploring the natural world with my daughter.
