A 23-year Army veteran and self-professed English nerd, Alan S. Brown began experimenting with poetry and creative writing after high school to observe, question and try to make sense of the world around him. In addition to postings in Europe, Asia, the Middle East and stateside, he spent six years teaching composition and literature to cadets at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. He lives with his wife and two children in a quiet mountain valley in Southcentral Alaska.
