After her cancer diagnosis in 2025, Ann Nguyen began writing letters to document her journey—capturing moments of fear, courage, and unexpected grace. Through her writing, she explores how life's fractures can be traced with gold to reshape our understanding of resilience and deepen our appreciation for the ordinary.

Ann is the author of The Detour: Who Am I Without That Job?—a book about identity, career transition, and finding yourself on the other side of loss. Dear Cancer, Dear Life is her second book. Together, they form a body of work exploring life's most unexpected detours—and the person we become on the other side.

A proud Vietnamese-Canadian and Torontonian, Ann is the founder of The Detour Community, where she continues to explore what it means to live and create with intention.
