Wesley Phillipson

Wesley Phillipson is the great grandson of F. Scott Fitzgerald's confidant Thomas Boyd - the author of the war novel Through The Wheat. He and Fitzgerald edited their first novels together under the direction of Max Perkins at Scribner.

Wesley has taught writing and media studies at Scarsdale High School in downstate New York since the year 2000, and has been an English teacher since 1994.

His first book on writing, "Teaching the Anti-Essay" is in the tradition of Stephen King's "On Writing" and John McPhee's "Draft No. 4," in that it's a breezy intersection between the personal and professional.

Having taught over 5,000 students in the art of writing, Wesley Phillipson is uniquely qualified to help classroom teachers face the specter of AI and ChatGPT, as well as any high school junior or senior write the "unicorn" college essay.

"Teaching the Anti-Essay" encapsulates a writing program that was 30 years in the making, condensing it down to 19 chapters that will change the way you think about writing, teach writing, or express yourself vulnerably on paper.
