The UK P.E.O. Group was formed in the 1970’s to accommodate members of P.E.O. International living in the UK. Members retain their affiliation with their local chapters in North America while residing in the UK. Some live in the UK for a short period of time while others live here permanently. Several have dual citizenship, and some split their time between the US and the UK.
All UK P.E.O. Group publications raise funds for P.E.O. International Projects, which promote educational opportunities for women internationally. Our first foray into publishing was The P.E.O. Insider’s Guide to London in anticipation of the 2012 Summer Olympics. The success of that publication resulted in a dedicated P.E.O. International Peace Scholarship UK Group Fund which we continue to support with additional funding.
Our second publication, The P.E.O. Insider’s Guide to British Cooking, resulted from conversations about the differences between the US and the UK and particularly related food. With the success of that book, the joy of writing was sparked in our group.
We now offer a new and improved Insider’s Guide to London and our second cookbook, The P.E.O. Insider’s Guide to Afternoon Tea. It will always be the case that the proceeds from the sale of our books will be donated to the P.E.O. International Projects in order motivate, educate and celebrate women worldwide.
