Bunny Meadows is a New England–based author, gardener, and lifelong
student of nature’s healing wisdom. Her debut book, Apothecary Beauty: Heal,
Transform, and Achieve Lasting Health and Happiness, is the culmination of a
journey rooted in family traditions, hands-on horticulture, and a lifelong
fascination with the power of plants to restore balance and joy.
Bunny’s story begins in childhood, where wellness and the natural world were
always close at hand. Her parents were Shaklee vitamin distributors, and both of
her grandmothers provided for their large families of seven by tending expansive
gardens, preserving harvests, and living in harmony with the land. From them,
Bunny learned that health and happiness could be cultivated through food,
herbs, and daily connection to the earth.
Bunny’s life story is as varied as it is inspiring. She grew up playing classical
piano and learning to code in COBAL, developing discipline and artistry that
shaped her creative path. She stepped into the world of modeling, representing
Clairol (hair) and Revlon (perfume)—a chapter that deepened her
understanding of beauty in many forms. She went on to compete nationally in
crossbow, earning 3rd place in the United States, a testament to her focus and
determination. Her curiosity about Geology led her to New York City, where she
graduated as a Diamonds Graduate from GIA, honing her appreciation for the
natural world and structure.
In 1992, Bunny started her first business—a cleaning company that quickly
expanded to include gardening and landscape upkeep for clients. Although she
later shifted into a career in computers and telecommunications, she remained
deeply connected to plants, completing her training as a Master Gardener
through University of Connecticut and expanding her studies in horticulture.
Today, Bunny’s garden in New England are both sanctuary and classroom, filled
with rare orchids, the bonsai she arranges, and experimental plantings that
serve as a living apothecary. She continues to blend traditional practices with
modern horticultural knowledge, keeping alive the wisdom she inherited while
exploring new ways to heal and thrive through nature.
When she is not writing or tending to her gardens, Bunny finds joy in wandering
New England’s nature trails, practicing open-water swimming, and studying the
rhythms of each season. Her rare plant collection, bonsai artistry, and love of
wild landscapes reflect her constant search for harmony between discipline and
wonder.
With Apothecary Beauty, Bunny Meadows invites readers to rediscover the
timeless relationship between nature and well-being, offering a path to healing,
transformation, and lasting happiness—one rooted in the beauty and resilience
of the natural world.
