Chrystal Waban

Chrystal Toop of Blackbird Medicines is an author and member of the Algonquins of Pikwakanagan First Nation. A Storyteller and plantkin helper with experience in grassroots spaces and frontline crisis work in connection to restorative healing justice, Chrystal has been published under the pen name Chrystal Waban, Chrystal Dawne, and her maiden name, Chrystal Desilets.

As a co-founder of Aunties on the Road Doula Collective (2017) and the Indigenous Death Doula Collective (2020) Chrystal has successfully trained more than 1400 doulas globally and continues to work in community through her sole proprietorship, Blackbird Medicines,
