Dr. Leonard Bright is a professor at Texas A&M University’s Bush School of Government & Public Service. He earned his Ph.D. in Public Administration and Policy from Portland State University’s Hatfield School of Government in Oregon. His specialties are public service motivation, public management, human resource management, organizational behavior, and higher education. His research achievements are highly regarded and appear in leading publications within his field.
Dr. Bright has held various leadership positions at the national, state, and university levels. These included serving as the President of the Southeastern Conference for Public Administration (SECoPA), President of Metro Louisville’s American Society of Public Administration (ASPA) Chapter, Vice President of the American Association of University Professors (AAUP) Texas Conference East Region, and Assistant Provost in the Office of Graduate and Professional Studies and Assistant Dean of Graduate Education in the Bush School of Government at Texas A&M. He is currently the President of the American Association of University Professors Chapter at Texas A&M University.
Dr. Bright and his wife love outdoor activities like fishing, hiking, traveling, and visiting the beach with their two dogs. Despite his busy job, Dr. Bright is a proud “Dr. Fix-it.” He and his wife purchased land, cleared it, and built their home themselves, with their own hands.
