Dr Rayan Azhari, (CEnv, MISEP), is a Chartered Environmentalist and senior sustainability consultant with over 15 years of experience spanning architecture, energy analysis, and strategic climate advisory. Based in London, he specialises in guiding financial institutions, real estate investors, and industrial clients in the development and execution of Net Zero Carbon and ESG strategies, aligning business performance with climate responsibility.
Rayan holds a PhD in Energy Demand from the UCL Energy Institute, along with two master’s in sustainable building performance, energy demand studies, and a degree in architectural design. His doctoral research focuses on the energy demand of the non-domestic building stock, advancing machine learning and data-driven approaches to operational energy performance assessment and modelling.
Throughout his career, Rayan has contributed to national and international sustainability frameworks, including the UKGBC Net Zero Carbon Buildings Framework, and advised on the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi), GHG Protocol, and the EU Taxonomy. His technical proficiency encompasses data modelling, life cycle assessment, and scenario analysis, with expertise in SQL and R programming.
In addition to his consultancy work, Rayan has published research on a range of sustainability and energy topics. His publications include studies on energy use intensities in London housing, operational energy benchmarks for Australian non-domestic buildings, and innovative modelling methods for thermal insulation impacts in Syrian residential architecture. His research has contributed to both academic discourse and practical industry knowledge in the fields of energy efficiency and low-carbon building design.
