ROBERTO ROCHA

José Roberto Rocha, who publishes under the pen name Roberto Rocha, holds degrees in both Law and Literature. His literary vocation emerged at an early age when, at thirteen, inspired by a casual remark from his mother and paternal grandmother while they were watching television, he conceived the idea of writing television dramas. From that moment on, the creative voice that would accompany him throughout his life never fell silent.

Known by those close to him for living under a constant storm of ideas, he learned from an early age to coexist with characters, dialogues, and storylines that emerge unexpectedly and mature in silence. For this reason, he has cultivated the disciplined habit of carefully preserving his ideas, patiently awaiting the precise moment when each story reveals its definitive form as a book.

At the age of nineteen, immersed in amateur theatre, he boldly embraced the roles of playwright, director, producer, and actor simultaneously. He later expanded his artistic reach into the audiovisual world through short films created for film festivals. As a screenwriter, he gained recognition with Sonho de Chão (Dream of the Earth), an unmistakable milestone in a singular creative journey that was only beginning—a journey leading him toward dreams that still lay beyond the horizon, yet were already pulsing within the invisible fabric of destiny. On the stage, he wrote and produced six theatrical productions and earned significant acclaim with the award-winning play O Homem do Adeus (The Man of Farewell).

His literary inspirations rest upon the timeless legacy of the English playwright William Shakespeare, whose spirit echoes in this reimagined expression of hope: “If your dreams are in the clouds, do not worry; let your heart be at peace, for that is exactly where they belong. Now, rise to meet them.” In harmonious resonance stands the thought of the Norwegian dramatist Henrik Johan Ibsen, recreated in its essential spirit: “Reality is the ground upon which dreams must land; without that courage, they scatter like mist before the wind.”
