JAMES SASSO

James Sasso (American) aka Jimmy or Sasso, creates brilliant painterly art works which could be included in the genre

of Neo- Expressionism, Abstraction & Minimalism, yet all somehow blended into a Pop style purist aesthetic that is also related to the Outsider label.

One of the main motifs and dynamics of his art since early on (early 1980's) starting out with black & white technical drawings, is an ever expanding oeuvre of art revolving around a series of felines ( cats) in different scenarios and configurations. The cats have evolved over time into an obsessive evolutionary continuation of his style and comprise a mixed bag of this art in different mediums.

The 2025 book, Cats From Hell Eat Well, showcases a collection of these cats he has produced on canvas, paper and tee shirts, along with a comic style poem with about a cat character.

Aside from this, Sasso has compiled some of his other works into books and stories such as Space Junk, Space Junkers, Space Junks and two coloring books, Cat Color and The Poor Man's Picasso.

His 2025 art book, Skulls for Peace, is an art movement initiative collection using Skulls as a symbol for peace.

This generational talent produces a body of transcendent and transformational artworks which highlight his singular vision hand. His unique brand of art is also a great example of Eternalism in art because of it’s timeless and effervescent quality, which never goes out of style.

Sasso grew up in Texas and currently lives in California.
