Leon Lee

Leon Lee was born in the winter of 1990 to a single mother. His father passed away before he was born, leaving a void that would shape Leon's journey in profound ways. Growing up, he discovered solace and expression through his passions for singing and writing. An avid writer from an early age, Leon crafted short stories, poetry, and even dabbled in amateur songwriting. Writing became both an escape and a form of therapy- a way to express emotions and thoughts he couldn't always verbalize.

After graduating from Manning High School, Leon pursued a degree in Early Childhood Education at USC Beaufort, where he participated in the Call Me MISTER program. This experience profoundly shaped him as an educator. He began his teaching career with Beaufort County School District, where he spent four years building vibrant communities in his classroom, school, and beyond. As a mentor teacher and evaluator, Leon demonstrated a strong commitment to educational excellence from the outset.

His passion for education led him abroad to Saudi Arabia, where he taught elementary students before transitioning into an administrative role. During this time, Leon completed his Master's in Educational Leadership with a focus on curriculum, an Education Specialist Degree in Administration, and his Doctorate in Educational Leadership. His dissertation explored the sense of community among students in schools—a topic close to his heart.

Leon returned to the low country to serve as an Elementary School Principal for two years before accepting his current role as K-8 Principal at one of the top schools in South Africa and across the continent. He is married to his wife Lexi of eleven years and is a proud father to two daughters, Olivia Kate and Ella Grace.

Passionate about the future of education, Leon continues to push student learning forward through writing, research, consulting, and advocacy for what's best for students and teachers alike.
