David W Guth

David W. Guth is a Peabody Award-winning journalist who served 29 years on the journalism faculty at the University of Kansas. He has three single-authored books, "Bridging the Chesapeake: A ‘Fool’ Idea that Unified Maryland," published by Archway Publishing; "Thirteen Minutes: Death of an American High School," published by Page Publishing; and "In the Moment: The Journey of the Class of ’70." With coauthors, he has published four academic/professional books. The most successful of these is "Public Relations: A Values-Driven Approach," published by Pearson. He earned more than two-dozen state, regional and national journalism honors, including the George Foster Peabody Award. He is co-author of the American Bar Association honored" Media Guide for Attorneys," published by the Kansas Bar Association. During seven years of state government service, he was a spokesperson for several agencies and served on North Carolina’s emergency response team. He has an B.A. from the University of Maryland and an M.A. from the University of North Carolina. In retirement, he has volunteered with the American Red Cross and Douglas County (Kansas) Emergency Management.
