CP Sharp is a science fiction author, living in Fife, Scotland.
It was my stint as a solo traveller that ignited my love of writing, and storytelling in particular. I’d spent a decade on the building site and skippering work boats at the local boat yard – both full of characters – and had had a good kick at the ball clubbing and pubbing, but the party was over and it was time to get out of Dodge. Back in the 90’s, when the internet was in its infancy, internet cafes were springing up all over the well beaten trails of Southeast Asia and Central and South America. I met and travelled with dozens of people during that time, but I also spent a lot of time on my own. The Internet café became my go-to place, where I’d craft the tales of my travels and send them off to the few people who had e-mail addresses at the time. I’d spend hours, typing away, editing and re-editing. The whole experience was invigorating, and I simply couldn’t type fast enough! The strange and wonderful sights, and smells, the strangers drifting by. I’d set off to find myself in the jungles and mountains, but came alive in the computer lined shacks of the developing world.
When I returned, I started writing books.
