Tony Silver

Tony Silver was born in the aftermath of the Second World War, during a time when life was beginning anew. He grew up in the bombed-out East End of London, which, for a young boy, felt like one vast playground. He attended one of the first comprehensive schools in England, where he met his lifelong friend and writing partner, Trevor Rix.

Although Tony left school with only a handful of formal qualifications, he carried with him a wealth of street smarts and a deep curiosity about the world, qualities that served him well throughout his career. He went on to work with several major trading houses across Europe, America, and Japan, marketing a wide range of products from rat poison to battleships.

In 1985, Tony launched his own company, introducing high-performance American plastics to markets in Europe, India, and Australia. After a successful career, he eventually settled in France with his wife, Marianne, and retired in 2014.

Retirement marked the start of a new creative chapter. At Trevor’s suggestion, the duo began writing together, leading to the creation of their first book, 5-Guys. It was soon followed by Some-Guys, and the third book, 2-Guys, is currently in the works. All three titles are loosely biographical but readers will have to decide for themselves which parts are fact and which are fiction.
