Rachel E. Ferguson

At the age of 10 Rachel was diagnosed with Ataxia-Telangiectasia (A-T), a rare genetic condition which is progressive & life limiting, within a year she needed the use of a wheelchair. Rachel attended a mainstream school & went onto college where she gained a BTEC level 3 in Health & Social Care. On leaving she took up the role of website co-ordinator for the churches in the parish where she lived. She enjoyed attending weekends organised by the A-T Society, where she could meet up with other young people like herself, this charity has been a lifeline to Rachel & her family since her diagnosis back in 2007. Rachel also loved a good story, and when the pandemic struck she decided to write a book and the 'Magic Meg' series was created. Sadly Rachel passed away in November 2023 at the age of 27, before she could see the subsequent sequels published. All royalties received from the sale of the three books in the ‘Magic Meg’ series are being donated to the A-T Society, in accordance with Rachel’s wishes.
