Jeff Hicks

Jeff Hicks is an American Airlines captain and the president and founder of Aerospace Safety Associates. He brings more than three decades of aviation experience across military, federal, commercial, and contract operations as an operator, maintenance professional, evaluator, and oversight specialist. The firm has completed more than 120 aviation safety assessments and supports NASA Commercial Aviation Services, including UAS operator evaluations. Hicks led development of NASA-STD-7919.1, the NASA Commercial Aviation Services standard, and NASA’s UAS operations standard.

He is the author of Risk Is the Work, What the Audit Misses, and Risk River, a connected series for people who manage operational risk and those who select and oversee operators.

Hicks is also an Air Force veteran and outdoorsman. His Alaska books, Soldier, Margin on the Bering, and One Hunt a Year, explore friendship, survival, faith, loyalty, and the wild places that shape us.
