Michael Wilson

Michael Wilson is an award-winning director and writer whose career sits at the intersection of high-end commercial production and advanced drone technology. He began his career writing and directing automotive television shows before moving on to direct commercials for some of the world’s most recognized brands. His storytelling work in both documentary and narrative film has earned industry acclaim and multiple awards.

A passion for technology led Michael deeper into the drone industry, sparked by an early fascination with DJI products. This interest ultimately brought him to DJI itself, where he served as a director overseeing global product launch campaigns for both the consumer and enterprise divisions. His expertise in aerial-focused marketing has made him a trusted creative partner to manufacturers, retailers, and end-users across the drone industry.

Today, Michael is the co-founder of Red Raven UAS, launched with longtime collaborator and UAS pioneer Derrick Ward. Red Raven UAS develops enterprise UAS programs, trains drone teams, and educates new pilots. Together, they have created a comprehensive suite of Part 107 training materials, including this guidebook, an online course, and an audio companion designed to help the next generation of flyers earn their Remote Pilot Certificate.
