Malcolm McDowell Woods is an editor and journalist, a communications professional and a university lecturer. Scottish by birth and Irish by ancestry, he now resides in Wisconsin with his partner and their dog, Molly. His two adult children live nearby.
"What the Tide Leaves Behind" is his first novel. The book was the 2024-25 selection of Tosa's All-City Reads program and is a favorite of book clubs. Woods is an accomplished public speaker who has given numerous presentations about his book and the world of independent publishing. He has written for a variety of periodicals in the US and Europe. Woods co-authored the book, "Irish Wit and Wisdom." He has worked as a newspaper and magazine editor, helped launch several publications, and was co-founder and managing editor of the former Irish American Post magazine. He is the author of numerous short stories and essays. He has received national honors for editorial writing and page design as well as the Milwaukee County Individual Arts Fellowship for Fiction Writing.
