Dr. Patrick A. Walsh PhD

The author has held a range of scientific roles, including Clinical Biochemist at the Institute of Clinical Pharmacology in Dublin, followed by a Senior Clinical Biochemist position at St. John's & Barrington's Hospitals in Limerick, Ireland. The author then embarked on an academic journey, initially as a Lecturer in Biomedical Sciences and Toxicology at Technological University of the Shannon (TUS), Athlone, Ireland, and, more recently, as a Senior Lecturer in Physiology at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland-Medical University of Bahrain.

His career has included collaboration with numerous Functional Medicine practitioners, through which he gained direct insight into the vital roles that diet, environmental medicine, and complementary therapies play in patients' health and well-being.

Recognizing the limited emphasis on nutrition in global medical curricula, the author was motivated to write a scientifically grounded, accessible book on the crucial relationship between the microbiome and health, and on how to care for our beneficial symbiotic microbiota partners, especially during antibiotic use.

The book "Antibiotics and the Microbiome" has been published under the new imprint Eudaimon Press, which focuses on producing titles in the field of Integrative Medicine, bringing together the best practices of evidence-based orthodox medicine and validated complementary medicine therapies to achieve the best possible outcomes for patients.
