Although I've been a writer for much of my life, some of the most fun I've had was during the creation of stories for my own kids who liked to challenge me by providing three things that absolutely, positively, had to be included in the story—no matter how seemingly unrelated they might be.

I'm also a conservationist at heart; in particular, I’m concerned about our planet’s vanishing diversity of animal species and how human behavior has negatively impacted their survival in a world that’s changing without their consent. (As an example, with the encroachment of humans into their territory, the sand cat has become susceptible to car strikes and other mechanized accidents.)

"Dracula’s Vampire Kitty" was created from my desire to celebrate the vampire legend while simultaneously drawing attention to a relatively unknown cat species —which just-so-happens to share many of Dracula’s characteristics. My hope is that some of the proceeds from the sale of this book can be donated to conservation efforts specifically aimed at the sand cat.
