Trisha Thompson-Willingham

Trisha Thompson-Willingham began her Montessori journey in 1992, just out of university in Canada. Thirty-three years later, as an empty-nester in Virginia, she has the perspective of a parent, guide, coach, administrator, independent school board member, and state group leader. She has qualifications and experience as a reading specialist and a special educator. Above all else, Trisha is an advocate for children.

Trisha holds a Master's of Education degree with a specialty in Montessori Elementary and is trained in Montessori at three levels: 0-3, 3-6, and 6-12. She has also been oriented to adolescence.



Since leaving the classroom, Trisha co-founded and led the Virginia Montessori Association for eight years and has consulted at public and private programs in the US. She recently completed her service on the Montessori Public Policy Initiative’s Board of Directors, whose mission is to increase access to Montessori Education in the United States.
