Marie Carter-Robb is a writer, journalist, editor and children’s author whose work is rooted in a lifelong love of animals and the natural world. After living across the UK, she now makes her home in the wild beauty of the North Pennines, where red squirrels - and the deeply soulful landscape - have found their way into her writing.
Marie began writing stories as a child and rediscovered an early book she had written and illustrated at the age of nine while working on her red squirrel campaign. The discovery reminded her that long before deadlines and media releases, she simply loved telling stories.
For more than twenty-five years, Marie has explored the bond between people and animals, telling stories that inform, inspire and connect. She is the founder and editor of Pets Magazine, an international digital title with a loyal readership, and host of The Pets Mag Podcast, where she interviews experts, authors and well-known guests about life with animals.
She is also the founder of the Save Our Reds campaign, launched in 2025 after witnessing the disappearance of red squirrels from woodland that once felt alive with them. The petition has since gathered more than 70,000 supporters. Her debut children’s book, Little Red: Warrior Squirrel, grew from that moment - a hopeful story encouraging children to care for the wild creatures and forests we share.
Her family includes three Cavalier King Charles Spaniels who are rarely far from her side.
