Dr Fabiola Creed is a Researcher at the University of Glasgow. She is a historian of (un)healthy industries, technologies, and marketing, as well as patient(-consumer) narratives, mass media, and stigma in twentieth- and twenty-first-century Britain.
She has published on tanning technologies and culture, which includes her first book, The Rise and Fall of the Sunbed in Britain: Tanning Culture from Fad to Fear. She has also published on maternal mental illness narratives in broadcast media (e.g., in Feminist Media Studies and Women’s History Review). Fabiola is currently historicising the gambling industry’s sponsorship of sports, from the broader project, 'Kicking the Habit: Historicising 'Addictive' Sport Sponsorship in Britain, 1965-2025'.
