Judith Bowers

Judith Bowers is a natural story teller and has been writing since she could hold a pen. Her second love is history - or as she likes to say, Hi-story - with a particular passion for the theatrical, quirky, strange and gruesome. Although her first two books, Stan Laurel and Other Stars of the Panopticon, and Glasgow's Lost Theatre are factual history books, her ability for spinning a good yarn is evident.

With her latest collection of books, The Magic Lantern Trilogy, Judith has combined her love of the Britannia Panopticon Music Hall, history and story telling to weave a time traveling tale which transports the reader to another time and some real unsolved mysteries. Part one, The Magic Lantern, and part two, The Lantern of Terror, are now available. Part three, The Fantascope, will be officially launched in February 2027 to coincide with her 30th anniversary of campaigning for Britannia Panopticon Music Hall, however, a limited number of preview copies will be available at the end of 2026.

In addition to writing books, Judith has also researched, written and presented over thirty history segments for various television programmes and provides some very entertaining walking tours around Glasgow.
