Peter Nilsson

Peter Nilsson's professional work is at the intersection of education and innovation. He was a high school English teacher and administrator at Deerfield Academy in Massachusetts, and has served as Head of School at King's Academy in Jordan and on the Board at the Canterbury School in Fort Wayne, Indiana. During his time in schools he was a recipient of the Wolfram Innovator Award for his work integrating mathematical software into literature courses, the first high school teacher to ever receive the award. He is also the editor of The Educator's Notebook, a newsletter that gathers education and learning-related news from around the web for the purpose of promoting innovation in education.

Peter serves on the advisory boards for SXSW EDU and the Center Curriculum Redesign, and served on the advisory team for the Middle States Association's Responsible AI in Learning endorsement. He is the co-author with Maya Bialik of Irreplaceable: How AI Changes Everything (and Nothing) in Teaching & Learning. He consults with schools on artificial intelligence in education through aptonym.

Peter is also a musician. He has performed in a wide variety of settings in New York City, and he is the creator of Schooled the Musical.
