Wayne Studer

Wayne Studer is the author of "Rock on the Wild Side: Gay Male Images in Popular Music of the Rock Era" (1994: Leyland Publications), "Pet Shop Boys: Song by Song Volume 1" (2025: Fonthill Media), and "Pet Shop Boys: Song by Song Volume 2" (2026: Fonthill Media). A Ph.D. in American Studies (1984 University of Minnesota) and lifelong music lover, he has since 2001 maintained the website "Commentary: Interpretation and Analysis of Every Song by Pet Shop Boys." In 2006 he served as an onscreen commentator for the television documentary "Pet Shop Boys - A Life in Pop." Now retired and living in Southern California after a long career in computer- and web-based instructional design, Wayne devotes his spare time to writing, cactus gardening, and, as always, listening to music.
