James Giordano

Dr James Giordano is Director of the Center for Disruptive Technology and Future Warfare of the Institute for National Strategic Studies at the National Defense University, Washington, DC; and is Professor Emeritus of Neurology and Biochemistry, and Emeritus Chair of the Neuroethics Studies Program at Georgetown University Medical Center, Washington, DC, USA.

Dr Giordano previously served as Senior Bioethicist of the Defense Medical Ethics Center, Bethesda MD; Distinguished Visiting Professor of Brain Science, Health Promotions, and Ethics at the Coburg University of Applied Sciences, GER; and International Fellow of the Oxford Centre for Neuroethics, and Blackfriars' Hall, University of Oxford, UK.

He is a Fellow of the Hastings Center for Ethics; Elected Member of the European Academy of Science and Arts; and Overseas Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine, and Royal Society of Public Health (UK), and was a Fulbright Fellow of the Ludwig Maximilians University, Munich, GER.

The author of over 350 peer-reviewed papers, 10 books and 30 governmental reports, his ongoing research focuses upon the neuroscience of pain, cognition and moral behavior, the use of neuroscience and technology in medicine, public life and military operations, and the ethics of brain science, technology and biological warfare.
