Welcome to my author page. I'm Sam Steele, author of the DI Hope Fenton police-procedural series, whose first instalment is published in April 2026.

FIVE SILVER SPOONS is a tale of arrogant entitlement and buried secrets, set in London and Cambridge. We all know what can happen when something is buried, however, and in this case it resurfaces twenty years later, with a thirst for revenge. Set against this is the family tragedy that destroyed the marriage of Hope and her estranged husband, forensic scientist Dr Adam Fenton, and the tantalising questions it has left behind.

When I'm not devising Machiavellian crimes, I write historical fiction under the name Sarah Steele. My most recent novel, THE RIVIERA SECRET, is also out in spring 2026, and is a gothic tale about a beautiful villa on the French Riviera, and the various women who lived there during the 1920s and 30s, up until the outbreak of war.

And when I'm not at my desk (or substituting it for a table at a café), I can be found chewing the cud with author friends and walking the hills in my native town of Stroud, Gloucestershire, along with my trusty hound.
