L.A. Rivera is the author of Little Papi's Favorites, Sissy Mae Counts, and now La cena con Honeybear, bilingual picture books written for his own kids and now shared with everyone else's. Originally from New York City and now settled in upstate New York, he writes stories rooted in his Salvadoran heritage, wrapped in a little luchador flair — you may notice that in his author photo too.
L.A. has bigger plans beyond the page: turning these characters into animated stories he can keep building for years to come, long after his own kids have outgrown bedtime reading.
When he's not writing, L.A. is usually deep in a book of his own — anything from Matt Haig's magic realism to Gabriel García Márquez's Cien años de soledad — or losing an argument with his cat, who remains unconvinced that any of this is worth the interruption to nap time.
