Kristy Sherrod

Kristy Sherrod has had a love of writing since a simple short story assignment was given to her in the 7th grade. She has been writing in multiple genres ever since, with a focus on horror and suspense in fiction and local interest essays in non-fiction. Her writing focuses on a variety of topics, including personal essays, local human interest stories, women’s equity, social justice, religion, travel, nature, and even local business reviews. Kristy has taught literature, creative writing, technology, and law in her time as an educator. She holds an MFA in Creative Writing from the Sewanee School of Letters at The University of the South. She has essays published in Our Jackson Home, a feature publication from Jackson, Tennessee, and has also been the guest editor for multiple editions of the Our Jackson Home Literary Journal. Her latest short story, “Sometimes the Devil is Real,” is featured in the horror anthology If I Die Before I Wake: Tales of Cryptid Chaos by Sinister Smile Press (a division of Crystal Lake Publishing). She makes her home in West Tennessee with her not-so-spooky black cat, Hemingway.
