Circle Yuen

Circle Yuen (阮絡伶) is an author-illustrator whose debut picture book, Our Dance (Graffeg, 2025), was shortlisted for the 2026 Klaus Flugge Prize and selected for The White Ravens 2026 by the International Youth Library. Her earlier work was a finalist for the Bologna Illustrators Exhibition 2024 and won the Publisher's Prize at the FAB Prize 2024.

Originally from Hong Kong and now based in the UK, Circle makes picture books about children navigating family change and the shifting shape of home.

Our Dance was created with the National Association of Child Contact Centres (NACCC) and is the first UK picture book to introduce child contact centres. It is written for children, families and the practitioners who support them.

Her second picture book, Mama's Wedding (Lantana Publishing, 2026), tells the story of blended families and was described by The Guardian as "a gorgeous, nuanced picture book about blended families and new milestones." She is also the illustrator of Oakie (Graffeg, 2026).

Before turning to picture books, Circle spent a decade in social and community work in Hong Kong. She holds an MA in Children's Book Illustration from Cambridge School of Art.
