Jon Garcia

Jon Garcia is a reformed art director turned author who’s been meaning to write a novel since his AP English days at Midland High. It finally happened after unpacking some religious trauma and surviving one of the most professionally chaotic years of his life.

At the beginning of 2025, Jon was deep into developing a retro-inspired point-and-click video game (FRIDAY NIGHT 1998) while navigating a promotion at his day job that looked great on paper but proved far more complicated in real life. With his creative energy stretched thin and his evenings drained, game development stalled, and writing unexpectedly became the outlet that stuck.

What started as revisiting a story he began during the 2020 pandemic quickly turned into nightly writing sessions and a complete first draft in three months, followed by several revisions and the realization that, imposter syndrome or not, he had written a book.

Jon writes for readers who believe chosen family is essential, curiosity leads to the best stories, and honesty and vulnerability are worth the discomfort they require. His work blends dark humor with emotional sincerity and a refusal to follow arbitrary rules about what stories are “supposed” to be.

He lives in Austin, Texas with his wife, Jen, and their dog, Keeley. He’s always down for a good burger and a beer... and yes, he’s still planning to finish that video game.
