Nick Grant

Nick is a freelance energy consultant and principal of Elemental Solutions. Although Nick calls himself an engineer, he dropped out of two universities without graduating. In hindsight he appreciates the grounding in engineering science that he found so dull and difficult at the time. He has been making things since he could hold a hammer. His interest in closing the performance gap between design and reality led him to the Passivhaus Standard of which he is one of the UK pioneers. Nick was a long time Trustee of the AECB and is Technical Director of the UK Passivhaus Trust.

Nick is an active contributor to discussions on sustainable design but is also a practical engineer and self-builder. He and his partner designed and built their own home.
