C.A. Orfei

Before becoming an author, C.A. Orfei was a little girl who would reject every librarian’s offer of sparkly princess books in favor of creepy Halloween tales. Weird, I know. As an adult, it is safe to say she hasn’t changed much.

She chased magic and lore by studying Social and Cultural Anthropology in both undergrad and grad school, fascinated by everything from exorcisms and baby-jumping rituals to yams as currency. Between studies and life, she traveled as often as she could, determined to discover what ghosts lingered in the Great Pyramid of Giza and to press her lips to the Blarney Stone for eloquence.

Grove of Trees had been tickling the back of her mind for years. After settling down, her three mischievous toddlers sparked the idea of a world where Cherubs existed (along with plenty of other holiday-born creatures).

Writing has given her the honor of exploring emotions, uncovering mysterious worlds, and crafting unforgettable characters—those who, much like humans, dare to be a flickering light in the darkest of places.
